I clearly perceive an arm on the side - and maybe even walking legs under the big torso.
Anyway, if you continue along E4 for another 6000 km or so, you will find similar rocks/sculptures in Meteora in Greece. And there, too, monasteries. Maybe the Greek orthodox monks have the answer for you.
MennoAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7841399249557747138.post-58641103965611289402011-05-09T20:16:48.321+01:002011-05-09T20:16:48.321+01:00I see none of your readers have had the balls to a...I see none of your readers have had the balls to answer your question...Christinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15665370813822239060noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7841399249557747138.post-8256105491808414432011-05-05T13:41:30.918+01:002011-05-05T13:41:30.918+01:00John

What is today the base of the mountain was, at the end of the Mesozoic era, the delta of a river that came from the Balearic continent. It flowed into a large lake in the centre of Catalonia. At the bottom of the lake sediments could be found. When the Balearic continent submerged, what was left was a dry lake and an uncovered delta – a mass of conglomerates. The mass was vulnerable to the elements. So, over the next ten million years movements in the Earth's crust, changes in climate and erosion formed the mass into the shape that we see today. The rocks of Montserrat consist of a conglomerate of hardened and eroded rocks and limestone. This makes them hardy in comparison to other mountains in Catalunya and able to withstand erosion."

Roger

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------rogerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14916590154267035208noreply@blogger.com
